♥ Purrfect Cat Cafe at Muntri Street, Georgetown, Penang

Purrfect Cat Cafe, the first cat cafe in Penang, is located at Muntri Street and situated next to Camera Museum. Although I'm not a cat person, but it is okay to visit a cat cafe. 

Some of the cute cat murals that you can find at the cafe facade. "All are welcome but no doggies allow".

Purrfect Cat Cafe sells cat related merchandizes at the ground floor. 

All the things are cat-related, such as tees, keychains, postcards, hats, mugs, bags, pillows, soft toys, etc.

Unique cat-themed wall design and decorations at the ground floor. Full of post-it sticky notes.

On the other hands, the second floor (the upstairs) is divided into two separate zones, the cat zones and the cafe area that is cat-free. You will be briefed on house rules and you have to wash and sanitize your hands before you can take off your shoes and heading on upstairs.

Even the floor carpet is in the shape of cat.

There are around nine simple house rules to follow. Do not break the rules or you will be fined. RM 100.

Foods and drinks are allowed inside the cat zone, but you cannot feed the cats with any sort of foods. Inside the cat zone, you are also free to interact with all the cats, but you cannot carry them around. 

At present, they have a total of 8 cats in the cat society: Orange, Marble, Molly, Snowy, Nala, Teddy, Leo and Bear.

Not sure if these are Leo, Marble or Molly?

Okay, this one I can confirm it is Bear with unique dark grey fur.

Teddy. Laying comfortably on the orange foldable chair. Too adorable, too furry and the kimono can only cover half of its body. I can't resist to take many photos of it although it don't really bother me -.-

Orange. Super cute and chubby too. 

Snowy, the mascot for the cafe, also the first cat to reside in the cafe. It has a special pair of David Bowie-mismatched eyes. 

Oops, this is just a toy cat. 

Now let's move to the cat-free cafe area. Full of cat-related decorations. Seats are quite limited with cute cat cushions.

And we were lucky enough to be served to sit at this awesome and comfortable corner. 

Purrfect Cat Cafe serves only simple food and drink. Coffee, teas, cold drinks, small selection of pastries and cakes. During our visit, we did not order any food and drink from the menu. We were here to spend our purchased deal from Groupon, a high tea set which includes a slice of cake or one pastry and two glasses of fruit champagne.

Oreo mille crepe (RM 11.90 value). Not an impressive one. Lacks of oreo taste. But a thumb up to the food presentation.

In overall, we still spent a good time in Purrfect Cat Cafe although both the mille crepe and fruit champagne weren't up to the expectation. An exciting experience and this is my first time interacting with so many cats. To play with a cat seems simple at first glance, but in fact it is a bit difficult and I failed to spark their interest to play with me. #sweat

♥ Mille Crepe at Humble Beginnings, Straits Quay, Georgetown Penang

Humble Beginnings is another shop which specializes in Mille Crepe. They claims that they use only the finest ingredients for your indulgence. No artificial ingredients, no preservatives, no additives. Instead real vanilla pods (not the bottled extracts), real custard (not the powder + water concoction), best chocolates, best creams, best cheeses, freshest fruit, the list goes on.... These statements triggered our interest and curiousity, hence we drove all the way to Straits Quay just for their mille crepes.

Humble Beginnings outlet in Straits Quay is kind of small and seats are very limited.

But we kind of like their interior design which uses orange as the theme colour. Orange colour, the very embodiment of warmth and happiness, makes you feel lively, optimistic and uplifting. And those orange decorations on the ceiling and wall seems to be flower buds? What do you think?  

We reached there at around 10pm. Therefore, only limited choices of mille crepe left. A big disappointment because they do not offer any coffee at that hour and we can only opted for the soda drinks such as raspberry vanilla or strawberry soda and  passion fruit with cucumber or lychee soda.

Passion fruit with lychee soda (RM8.90). It tastes just like an ordinary fizzy soda drink, but then at least not too sweet. A good choice of drink when your thirst hits. However, I personally think this drink don't worth the price. A bit pricey. Besides, not to forget to mention, a complimentary water with a twist of lemon is given to every dine-in customer. 

French Vanilla (RM9.90). Original flavour of mille crepe always a crepe to-die-for. The topmost layer of the crepe is caramelized to give it a nice smokey sugary flavour and each layer of the crepe is of the same thickness. We like the delicate texture of the crepe although to us it is not smooth enough. In addition, it is not too sweet but the enticing flavour of vanilla seems to be too mild, hence the crepe turned out to be creamy instead. I would prefer mille crepe from The Twelve Cups.

Oreo's Cookies 'n' Cream (RM9.90). This mille crepe is one disappointment. My response at the first bite was "is this an oreo mille crepe?". Barely no crushed oreo cookies can be seen and the oreo taste is too light. Anyway, in matters of taste there is no dispute. Taste is very much on personal preferences and I personally prefer desserts with stronger taste or rich in flavour.

 

I will drop by Humble Beginnings again to try the other mille crepe.

♥ Winter Lover Bakery House & Mille Crepe

Bakery or cafe which offering Mille Crepe (also known as "thousand layer cake") is mushrooming across Malaysia in the big and small cities. To my knowledge, Nadeje Cake House is the first shop in Malaysia which sells Mille Crepe and many people claims that their Mille Crepe is the best in town. Now they have a total of four branches in Malaysia. Other than Nadeje, Food Foundry, The Twelve Cups and Humble Beginnings also quite well known for their palatable Mille Crepe. I had tried Mille Crepe from all of these famous cafe and I basically like them all -. -" There's none which I think tastes awful.

 I can't resist and never get bored with that savoury creamy multi layers. I was so excited the moment I came across Winter Lover Bakery House offer at Groupon.my. Without thinking twice, voucher bought! Best deal ever! You can get two slice of Mille Crepe and two drink for only RM 18.80. A normal Mille Crepe usually costs you at least RM 9 and above. 

Winter Lover Bakery House is located at Jalan PJU 5/21, Kota Damansara. It took me quite awhile to search for it because I hardly go to that area as opposed to Sunway Giza and it is located at upstairs of double storey shop lots. Please note that no shoes are allowed inside the bakery house, hence you need to take off and leave your shoes at the shoes rack. 

The interior design of Winter Lover Bakery House is much similar to Full House or Garden Cafe but much simpler. It exhales tranquillity and relaxation, makes me feel so comfortable and blissful sitting in there. In addition, I like the wallpaper they used to decorate the plain wall. Here I included a few photos to share with you the interior design of this bakery, as below:

According to their Facebook page, they are a featured bakery house serving their specialty of Mille Crepe and macaroons. In addition, they are also making their effort to cultivate the flower tea culture in Petaling Jaya. For flower tea lovers, maybe you can give a try.

So as stated in the voucher, I'm eligible to get two pieces of Mille Crepe (choose any type of Mille Crepe) and two drinks. They are offering a variety of Mille Crepe (really a lots). For instance, oreo madness, French chestnut, banana & chocolate, original/vanilla, caramel macchiato, raspberry yogurt, hokkaido milk, citrus cheese, mango, 3 in 1 (vanilla, chocolate & strawberry), trio chocolate (white, milk, dark chocolate), tiramisu, strawberry, rum & raisins, baileys, matcha azuki, peanut blueberry, etc. We had a tough time to decide which two flavours to pick and then in the end.......... the gluttonousness chosen matcha azuki and musang durian king.

Musang Durian King Mille Crepe. It contains musang durian blended in fresh whipped cream. This Mille Crepe is their weekend special Mille Crepe, so not sure if they are selling this during weekdays. So blissfully happy that I came on Saturday and I had the chance to try this. The taste of durian is so appetizing. Both of us love every bites of this and the delicate texture of crepe. I'm sure I will come back again for this. So, durian Mille Crepe is my new love now.

Matcha Azuki Mille Crepe (Matcha = green tea, Azuki = red bean). This Mille Crepe uses high quality of green tea powder imported from Japan and then blend together with red bean. I like green tea but not red bean (It was my friend who chosen this flavour). But surprisingly the combination of green tea and red bean in this way turns out to be so great. The taste is not so strong, not too sweet and very refreshing. You will definitely marvel at it in harmony of the combination.

As for the drink, not too much options. But I think they are offering good coffee such as toasted hazelnut coffee, arabica gold coffee, white coffee, dark coffee, and last but not least, the DURIAN COFFEE! I never heard about durian coffee. It is interesting to try it out and it tastes excellent (at least to me). But my body feels like it's heating up after a cup of this durian coffee. So I grabbed cooling water to relieve the body heatiness. Some people mentioned that durian is harmful when eaten with coffee, is this true? What about durian coffee?

Other than coffee, they serves honey lime with jelly and passion fruit. We ordered passion fruit because my friend not really a big fans of coffee. Pleasant drink for a hot day.

So this is how I spend my Saturday evening. A great tea time with delectable Mille Crepe and drinks, of course the companion counts too. Not to forget to mention, I'm really in love with their Mille Crepe and I had already bought this voucher again (luckily the deal is still ongoing). Can't wait for my second visit.
